The 2022-23 Lobster Hoop Net Season is about to start and we are offering a fleet of vessels to take you and your friends out. Our trips can take anywhere from 4 to 40 passengers out for a fun night chasing lobster tail.  We have vessels in Mission Bay, and in San Diego Bay. We provide all the equipment, bait, hoop nets, and baitwell live storage for your catch until you depart.

The trips last anywhere between 4 and 6 hours and fish for lobster in and around the rocky jetties outside of San Diego and Mission Bay. On board you will find hot coffee, snacks, and soda. Your welcome to BYOB.


KID FRIENDLY FAMILY FUN

Your child will thank you for taking them fishing because our crew will MAKE SURE they have a good time and help them try to land fish! We will provide instruction on how to hold the rod, put on bait, lower the bait, and how to reel it up once there is a fish on. Join an open party or get a four or six pack private party and head out to sea for your begginers, that still yields the big ones, as you can see in the pictures here.

Age 15 and below get a free fishing license!

ADULT SUPERVISION is required for all children 18 years or less. Passengers under 50 lbs, must provide their own USCG approved child life preserver for each child. No exceptions please.

Lobster Season Dates

Lobster season in San Diego begins on October 3 and continues through March 31. The daily bag limit is seven lobsters per person, with a possession limit of 14. For more information on regulations, please visit the California Department of Fish and Wildlife website.

What is the California spiny lobster?

The California spiny lobster, Panulirus interruptus, is a species of lobster that is found in the eastern Pacific Ocean from Monterey, California to Baja California, Mexico. It is also known as the West Coast spiny lobster, California rock lobster and Pacific rock lobster.

The California spiny lobster can grow to a length of over 30 cm (12 inches) and a weight of up to 4 kg (9 pounds).

Once you have caught a lobster, it is important to properly handle it. First, you will need to remove the hooks from the lobster’s claws. Next, using a pair of pliers, twist the body of the lobster until it pops out of the shell. Finally, cut off the tail fan and discard the intestines.
